Jahangir Safarov was born on 10 March 1986 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
In 2006, he graduated from Azerbaijan State University with a Bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Administrative Management. Between 2007 and 2008, he studied at the University of Applied Sciences in Germany, where he earned a Master’s degree in Economics. From 2009 to 2012, he continued his education at the University of Liechtenstein, specializing in Banking and Financial Management. At the same time, between 2010 and 2011, he successfully completed a student exchange program in Finance at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.
He began his career in the oil and gas industry in 2011. From 2015 to 2021, he worked at EY Azerbaijan as a Analyst to Manager in the Business Valuation, Strategy and Transactions Department. Between 2020 and 2021, he served as Manager in the Business Valuation and Economics Department at PwC in Vienna, Austria.
From 2021 to 2025, he served as Head of the Corporate Finance Division at the Azerbaijan Investment Holding. During 2022–2025, he was a member of the Strategy and Investment Committee of Tamiz Shahar OJSC and a member of the Supervisory Board of SOCAR Downstream.
In March 2025, he was appointed Chief Commercial and Financial Officer of SOCAR Midstream Operations LLC.
