Effective 1 July 2026, SOCAR Midstream Operations (SMO) assumed the roles of Manager of the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan (BTC) Pipeline and Common Operator of the BTC and South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP).
The BTC Pipeline Company (BTC Co) owns the BTC System, which transports petroleum through Azerbaijan, Georgia and Türkiye for export to international markets. Under the Management Services Agreement (MSA), BTC Co delegates the operation of the BTC System, along with certain business management and administrative functions, to SMO as the Manager.
Under the BTC–SCP Cooperation Agreement, SMO, as the Common Operator, carries out common activities for and on behalf of BTC Co and the South Caucasus Pipeline Company (SCPC), which owns the SCP.
In accordance with the MSA, SMO operates the BTC facilities in Azerbaijan and Georgia, excluding the Sangachal Terminal. BOTAŞ International Limited (BIL) operates the BTC facilities in Türkiye, including the Ceyhan Terminal, on behalf of SMO. SMO provides oversight and assurance for BTC operations in Türkiye.
BTC has a total length of 1768 km: 443 km in Azerbaijan, 249 km in Georgia and 1076 km in Türkiye.
